Can real strategy survive on a touchscreen?
I used to believe strategy games belonged on a mouse and keyboard. Dragging units around a tiny screen felt like a compromise at best. Then Iron Tide Command changed my mind.
The trick, it turns out, is designing for the finger instead of shrinking a PC game. Drawing movement paths by hand, pinching to zoom the map, tapping to queue orders — it all felt made for touch rather than ported to it.
What sold me was the deliberate pace. This isn't a game of frantic clicks. You set a plan, watch it unfold, and adjust. That slower rhythm suits a phone perfectly, because you can play a meaningful chunk in the ten minutes you actually have.
My advice for newcomers: stop trying to win every engagement. Learn to pull back, resupply, and pick fights on your terms. The map rewards patience far more than aggression.
Strategy on a phone isn't a compromise anymore. It just needed the right hands designing it.
